Objective
OCT parameters retinal thickenss, volume of intra-/subretinal fluid or pigment epithelium detachment become more and more important in evaluation of anti-VEGF-therapy progression. OCT machines like Stratus (Zeiss) have integrated software and algorithms for calculations, but accurate determination is often deficient and special distance, areas or volume measurements are not always feasible. We developed the OCT-analysis software “OC-Pro” for device-independent data calculation.
Methods
The exported data of the OCT machine are imported via a dialog window .The size of the image in pixel is converted back into real values in mm. “OC-Pro”analysis algorithm allows measurements of distances, surfaces and volumes. All data are saved as textfile (ASCII). For validation, comparative measurements with integrated OCT software were taken.
Results
“OC-Pro” allows user-friendly calculation of retinal thickness and volumes of intra-/subretinal fluid. The program facilitates OCT-machine independent picture analysis without installation of additional software and runs with every web browser as JAVA script. “OC-Pro” provides manually drawing of retinal and subretinal boundaries and, therefore, outmatches OCT integrated software in drawing retinal boundaries automatically, especially in pathological retina.
Conclusions
“OC-Pro” is a helpful OCT-scans analysis program and allows valid thickness, area and volume measurements. “OC-Pro” optimizes evaluation of progression of retinal and subretinal processes. “OC-Pro” freeware is available at: www.kip.uni-heidelberg.de/AG_Cremer. |
