Augenklinik, Klinikum rechts der Isar, Technische Universität München, München
Objective
Aim of this study was to evaluate the first clinical results with the WaveLight Concept Systems 1000, the first 1000 Hz laser system.
Methods
36 eyes of 20 patients underwent an EpiLASIK procedure with the Gebauer EpiLift and the WaveLight Concept Systems 1000. Preoperatively, 1 month and 3 months postoperatively a whole ophthalmic examination including objective and subjective refraction (UCVA, BCVA) and topography have been carried out. The refractive outcome has been analysed with the computer programme Datagraph med.
Results
The mean preoperative spherical equivalent was -4,48 D (SD 1,89). 1 month after surgery spherical equivalent was -0,06 (SD 0,38D) and 3 months after surgery -0,08 (SD 0,25D). 3 months after EpiLASIK 88% of the patients were within ±0,5D of the intended correction and all patients were within ±1,0D of the intended correction. The astigmatism was reduced from -0,73 D (SD 0,53 D) to -0,15 D (SD 0,24 D) 3 months after surgery. 95% of the patients had a clear cornea through the whole follow up, 5 % had a trace haze.
Conclusions
First results with Epi-LASIK and the WaveLight Concept Systems 1000 are very promising. Without any normogram adjustments, this laser systems has a very good safety, stability and efficacy. |
