City tour – Classics of Leipzig

1 hour bus ride, 1 hour walking tour
Meeting point: Leipzig Tourist Information Office,
Richard-Wagner-Str. 1, across from the central station
Right at the start of the bus ride you will see the exquisite Gohliser Schlösschen (Gohlis Palace), a superb example of Saxon rococo architecture and a jewel of the city Gohlis. Later you will see Schiller House where the famous poet Schiller not only resided as a summer guest but famous works, such as ’Ode To Joy’ and ’Don Carlos’ have their origin here. The tour continues through the noble ’Waldstraßen’ and ’musicians’ neighbourhood, the lively suburb in the south, and on to the Middle German Broadcasting Corporation (MDR). You will get to see Leipzig’s most famous landmark and the largest national monument in Germany, the Battle of Leipzig Memorial. Finally, you will take a stroll along the Leipzig Opera House via the Gewandhaus concert hall and up to St. Nicholas’ Church.

A trip to Meissen and a tour of the famous Meissen Porcelain Factory where you can learn about the fine tradition of this high quality craftsmanship. You will also have the opportunity to admire the most extensive collection of porcelain masterpieces from Meissen, crafted through the centuries from 1710 to the present day. Afterwards, you will have lunch in a restaurant in Meissen.
Finally, you will have a small tour through the city centre and to the market square with the Church of our Lady, the Benno-House and the town hall.

Guided tour through the cotton-spinning mill "From Cotton to Culture"

Meeting point: The Cotton-Spinning Mill,
Spinnereistr. 7, 04179 Leipzig
During the tour of what was formerly the largest cotton-spinning mill in Europe you will learn about the history of spinning and the redevelopment concept of the old brick building. During the subsequent visit of the galleries and exhibition areas you will learn more about the usage of the factory city today: since 1992, about 80 professional artists have moved into the old halls of the factory and have their studios there. Among these artists is Neo Rauch, a very popular contemporary artist whose works are currently highly sought after internationally. |

Guided tour through Amazonia in the Asisi Panometer

Hike through the accompanying exhibition past the water world of Amazonia. Watch the smallest insects while they do their work and peer into a huge tropical blossom – virtually from the perspective of a bee. As the highlight of the tour, you will climb up the viewing tower and enjoy the monumental 360° view at Amazonia. |
