Das Motto der diesjhrigen DOG Tagung Lebenslang gut sehen stellt fr mehr als die Hlfte der Weltbevlkerung noch immer einen unerfllbaren Wunschtraum dar. Die internationale Initiative Vision 2020 The Right to Sight hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, in Kooperation mit WHO, IAPB, Lnderregierungen und Hilfsorganisationen (NGOs) bis zum Jahr 2020 die Erblindungsrate weltweit drastisch zu reduzieren. Das Programm wurde 1999 gestartet, somit knnen wir jetzt eine Analyse zur Halbzeit anstellen und die Herausforderungen fr die kommenden 10 Jahre definieren.
Hierzu sind Referenten insbesondere aus Afrika eingeladen, dem Kontinent mit der hchsten Prvalenz von Blindheit, aber auch Vertreter Asiens und Lateinamerikas, sowie der IAPB und der CBM.

The motto of this year`s DOG Congress in Leipzig is:
Good sight, life long. Good sight remains a dream for the larger part of world population as eye care and blindness prevention have not reached them so far.
The international initiative Vision 2020 The Right to Sight aims at reducing the rate of blindness worldwide until the year 2020.
The campaign represents a cooperation between WHO, IAPB, Governments, and NGO`s and was inaugurated in 1999. 10 years after the start of the campaign we can analyse the past and look at challenges for the future.
Representatives from Africa, Asia, Latinamerica, IAPB and CBM have been invited as speakers for the symposion to discuss the achievements in the past and challenges for the future of the Vision 2020 initiative.
